A film crew explores the world of community wardens: council-funded “street teams” dealing with minor crimes and antisocial behaviour. How do they spend their days and what’s their relationship with the police and the community?

They find the perfect focus point in the shape of Dougie McLelland. Dougie dreams of becoming a police officer, using the wardens as a training ground while preparing for an upcoming entry exam for the force. His single-minded determination to become a “hero cop” leaves Dougie blind to how idiotic he appears to others.

He wants to help the community, but he can’t even help himself.
